UK inflation rate falls to 2.4% in June

The rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) fell to 2.4% in June, from 2.8% in May, official figures have shown.

This is the third month in a row that the annual rate has fallen, taking CPI to its lowest since November 2009.

The Office for National Statistics also said that the Retail Prices Index, which includes housing costs, fell to 2.8% from 3.1%.

The rate of inflation is slowing due to lower food, fuel and clothing prices.
